The last time I painted an egg was in the first semester of my sophomore year in art school, when I thought that rendering an egg amid draped satin would teach me how to paint. All these years later, I believe I understand that painting is more about assigning colors to seemingly colorless objects, and no amount of fading and rendering will take the place of actually finding the color.
